Our Team

When it’s time for your loved one to receive hospice care, you may be struggling with many complicated emotions. It’s understandable to feel stressed during such a tough transition, and that’s why our team at Shiloh Hospice provides empathetic support every step of the way. We aim to take some of the stress off of your shoulders so you can focus on spending quality time with your loved one. Our team includes a broad range of care professionals who work together to provide custom care that aligns with the patient’s preferences, values and wishes. We are here for you in any way you need us.

Meet the Team

Our care providers at Shiloh Hospice play an important role in delivering integrative care that fulfills your loved one’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Here’s an overview of our team members and how they serve your family:

  • Physicians. The patient’s primary care physician plays a vital role. They oversee coordination between the hospice team and the hospice medical director to ensure that all parties follow their discretion. Your loved one’s hospice physician helps them feel comfortable, both physically and emotionally.
  • Nurses. Nurses provide compassionate care to educate patients and help them manage their symptoms. They record the patient’s condition and medical concerns, as well as check vital signs and administer medications. Our nurses work closely with the rest of our hospice care team to confirm that the patient receives the outstanding care they deserve. We work hard to relieve your loved one’s stress and provide a sense of normalcy
  • Social Workers. A licensed medical social worker is specially trained to assist with various tasks related to end-of-life care. This may include filling out medical paperwork and arranging services. They also complete psycho-social examinations and help the patient and family cope through counseling and education.
  • Chaplains. Spiritual care is an important part of helping the patient feel comfortable. We listen carefully to the patient’s wishes and coordinate with their clergy or religious leader to support the patient through the end-of-life journey. We also provide non-denominational spiritual support. Our chaplains assist with providing solace through challenging moments, offer emotional support for caregivers and can help individuals with existential questions.
  • Grief and Bereavement Counselors. Death means something different to everyone. Our grief and bereavement counselors provide professional counsel for your family through your loved one’s illness. We continue to support the grieving family in the following 13 months after death.
  • Hospice Aides. Patients undergoing hospice care need ongoing assistance with many daily activities, including bathing, toileting and grooming. Our hospice aids deliver compassionate care as per the direction of our registered nurses.
  • Volunteers. Our volunteers help soothe the patient by providing companionship. They can also provide respite for the caregiver so you can run errands, attend appointments and take care of personal and professional responsibilities you may not otherwise have the time or emotional energy to complete.

We also have pharmacists, dietitians, and physical, speech and occupational therapists on staff to assist wherever needed.

Together, we aim to make the transition to hospice care a little easier for you and your family. We attentively listen to your needs during the process and are here whenever you need us. Our mission is to make your loved one comfortable as they approach the end of life. Rest assured that your loved one will be treated with the highest dignity and respect. We Aim For Excellence In All That We Do.

Hospice is committed to providing compassionate support for individuals facing terminal illnesses, caring for their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being as they navigate the end of life. Similarly, palliative care shares the same philosophy of comprehensive patient care, extending its services to non-terminal patients, offering them the opportunity to lead longer, happier lives.

  • By law, all healthcare professionals must respect your choice.
  • You don’t need to use the hospice connected to your hospital.

Our dedicated team of professionals aims to ensure that every aspect of your care is tailored to your unique situation and wishes.

We offer compassionate
care for our patients and
their family throughout
the Greater Chicago area.
